The name Izavier is of Spanish origin and means "God will favor." It is a variant spelling of the more common Xavier. The name Izavier has historical significance as it was borne by Saint Francis Xavier (1506-1552), a Basque priest who was one of the founding members of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). He was known for his extensive missionary work in Asia and is considered one of the co-patrons of Catholic missions. Today, Izavier is still used as a given name but it is relatively rare compared to its variant Xavier.
