Meaning, origin, history
Jonadab is a unique and biblical male given name of Hebrew origin. It means "voluntary" or "liberal." In the Old Testament, Jonadab was the son of Shimeah, the brother of King David's general Abner (2 Samuel 3:1-4). According to the story, Jonadab advised his cousin Joab to kill Abner in revenge for the murder of his brother Asahel by Abner. However, there is no mention of any voluntary or liberal behavior associated with this character.
