Kayleigh is a name of Irish origin and it means "Lovely". It is composed of two elements: the Irish word "cailleach", which means "old woman or hag" in Celtic mythology, and the Old English word "-lea", which means "bright, cheerful, happy". The name Kayleigh was popularized by the Scottish poet James Hogg's 1820 novel "The Brownie of Bodsbeck", where it appears as the name of one of the characters.
